Meeting someone from another country is exciting, and it asks for a little more care. Here's how to keep it good, and what we do when someone crosses a line.
Before you meet
Take your time before a trip
Chat for a while before you plan to meet. Ask about their day, their city and their plans. If the story keeps changing, take that seriously.
Know what Verified means
Our team compared their selfie with their profile photos by hand. It isn't a background check and doesn't prove who someone is, so take the same care with everyone.
Meet somewhere public
Make the first meeting a busy café, a museum or a walk through the old town. Book your own room and keep your own way of getting around.
Tell a friend
Share who you're meeting, where and when, with a screenshot of their profile. Agree on a time to check in, and a code word that means come and get me.
Get travel insurance
Cover health, cancellations and theft before you fly, so a change of plan doesn't turn into a crisis far from home.
Keep your passport and money yours
Never hand over your passport. Carry your own money and a card, and keep a return ticket booked in your own name.
Never send money, gift cards or crypto
Not for a visa, a ticket, customs fees, a hospital bill or an investment. Someone who asks you for money is not your match.
Keep chats in FarFlirt until you trust them
Our scam alerts only work inside FarFlirt. Pushing you to another app early on is one of the first steps in many scams.
How to spot a romance scam
Romance scammers are patient and often very charming. The story changes, but the pattern rarely does. Be careful if someone:
- Says they love you very quickly, often before you've ever met.
- Always has a reason why they can't meet, or can't show their face.
- Has photos that look like a magazine shoot, or a story that keeps shifting.
- Wants to move to WhatsApp, Telegram or email straight away.
- Suddenly has a crisis that needs money: a hospital bill, a stuck parcel, a visa fee, a plane ticket.
- Talks about a great investment or crypto platform and offers to help you trade.
- Asks for intimate photos, then threatens to share them unless you pay.
If something feels off, stop replying, send nothing and report them. If you've already sent money, contact your bank straight away and report it to the police. It is never your fault, and you're far from the only one.
How Report and Block work
Report
Open the menu at the top of any chat or profile and tap Report. Choose what happened and add anything that helps us understand. You can report someone for:
- Asking for money or a scam
- Harassment or hateful messages
- Fake profile or stolen photos
- May be under 18
- Selling something or escort activity
- Something else
Block
Tap Block in the same menu. They can't message you again, the chat closes, and they won't appear in your Drops or Browse. They only see that the chat has closed, not why.
Scam alerts
When money comes up in a chat, FarFlirt shows a warning right there. Links and contact details in the first few messages get one too, because moving you off the app is a common first step of a scam.
What happens after a report
- Your report goes to our moderation queue. We never tell the other person who reported them.
- We review the report, the profile and, if you reported from a chat, the messages in that chat.
- Depending on what we find, we warn the member, suspend the account or ban it for good. Scams, anything involving minors, and threats of violence lead to a ban.
- Blocking works straight away. You don't have to wait for our review to stop hearing from someone.

In an emergency
If you or someone else is in danger, call local emergency services first: 112 anywhere in Europe, 911 in the USA and Canada, 000 in Australia. Then report the account in FarFlirt so we can act on it.
